Work Hard, Play Hard
Jerry's dream was to ultimately make it big in Hollywood, making movies, writing and hitting the stage to entertain folks by the thousand. Since he was so determined he would take any paying gig (and some that didn't) if that meant more exposure or even just learning the process. He made a few commercials, low-budget films, but he really felt at home acting in his own scripted series "Punchline 2 Punchout", a semi-autobiographical story of a comedian that transforms into a championship boxer.
He Did It for His Rasa
Jerry was always giving back to his community. He threw countless show fundraisers for children and families in need. When he wasn't on stage he was volunteering his time and sharing his platform to get the word out.
Jerry Carrillo: Animal Lover
One thing about Jerry is he loved his dogs and had a big heart for all animals.
The Show Posters
As a promoter, Jerry put together comedy shows so he could get on stage and spread joy, while also giving his friends a space to showcase their talents. Over the course of his career he oversaw the art direction on his own show posters. Seriously, he came up with the title and the overall look and feel of what he wanted. Found in every single piece is an image of his son or his initials, and a little scrappy rat, a mascot he's been using since his high school days.
A lot of blank space was left in the posters so text and details could be added. Often times he'd reuse a poster, change the details, and BAM! it became a new show. The art of the posters matched Jerry's energy and humor, and the imagery stood out and spoke to his audience and beyond. The art was used not only for posters and flyers but for tickets and of course social media promotion.
